Corel Draw 8.0, 7.0

Corel is a recommended software for slide creation. However, it does not offer the extensive templates and charting capabilities that a slide software such as PowerPoint does. Corel does, of course, have very sophisticated drawing capabilities and may be preferred for this reason for some presentation needs. Remember that the RGB color mode should be utilized for slide output.

View the general guidelines for design suggestions and advice on color choice, scans, etc.

File Setup
To ensure proper output, download the Imagers Film Recorder driver. Follow the Printer Setup guidelines before setting up your Corel file.

1. In order for IMAGERS to accept your native Corel file, all slides must be contained in one file. If you prefer to work with individual files we require a .prn file (see item #6).

2. Refer to our font guidelines to ensure proper output. Unsupported fonts must be supplied. Corel ships with hundreds of fonts. These fonts are supported, but a complete list of the fonts used in your document(s) must be supplied to ensure proper output (specify Truetype or PostScript). Any fonts outside those provided with Corel must be supplied.

3. If large scanned files are placed in your file, please notify us. Extra turnaround time may be required.

4. Select Slide in the Page Setup dialog box under Layout menu. This will create an 11"x7.33" page with a landscape orientation. Leave at least 1/4" margin on all sides when placing text and graphics to avoid clipping of the image by the slide mount.

5. The Page Color option does not work for slide, print, or overhead output. A rectangle filled with the desired color must be drawn to create a colored background. Be certain this rectangle covers the entire background. For a white background, make sure you draw a box filled with white - the camera will automatically fill any area that does not have a background color with black. (We do not recommend a white background because large areas of white will cause color to appear washed out.)

6. You may prefer to send a printed to PostScript file (a .prn file). Set to the Imagers Film Recorder with settings as stated in our Printer Setup guidelines. Your .prn files cannot be opened to verify setup or adjust settings. Files prepared improperly will incur the same output charges as properly prepared files.
